Caldera school has two campuses. Our Lismore campus is located within Kamala, Lismore's Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit.
Kamala is an 8 bed acute mental health inpatient facility within the Richmond Network Mental Health Campus, co-located with the Lismore Base Hospital. The Unit provides diagnostic assessments, therapeutic programs and management of children and adolescents (12-17yrs) with severe and/or complex mental health presentations. Its catchment is across a geographic area stretching from Port Macquarie in the south, to the Queensland border in the north and west to centres such as Tenterfield.
Caldera Staff provide access to education for students during their time at Kamala.
Academic programs are created individually for students in order to best suit their level of achievement. Staff adjust academic work on a daily basis to match the current needs and ability level of the student.
Caldera staff liaise with health staff and school of enrolment in order to facilitate continuity of educational provisions. The team also help in planning transitions back to the school of enrolment as appropriate.
